15 Minutes Too Long

The stretch of road from the stoplight at Concha Cruz Drive to the next stop light at Elizalde corner Aguirre took me 15 minutes today when it would normally take only 2. The differentiating factor is a traffic enhancer … sorry… traffic enforcer of ParaƱaque City trying his best to mimic the efficiency of an electronic stoplight but failing miserably.

At first I thought the unusual traffic was caused by an accident that took up one of the two lanes leading out of BF Homes.  Next I thought either the end of Elizalde or Tirona street might be flooded from last night’s rain. But no, it was a human factor that wasn’t there for the past week when cars were breezing through that short portion of Elizalde.

I was contemplating turning around and go through Alabang-Zapote road to get to the South Super Highway entering via Filinvest. But that’s a good 5 kilometers of travel just to get to the highway. With my usual route through BF, 5 km would take me to the Sucat entrance already. That’s a 3 km advantage. Well, I stuck to my lane and decided this morning is a good opportunity to exercise my patience muscle. Switch CD to Mercy Me’s Undone album.

It was a good thing that the passing that traffic enforcer, it was a quick and relatively smooth drive to Amorsolo in Makati. Amazingly, my speedometer was able to hit 100 kph several times on the highway between Bicutan and Magallans; a rarity on a weekday morning.

The quick flow of traffic made up for the 15 minute delay at the start of my trip. I still ended up in the office within an hour of leaving the house.

God ang galling mo talaga! Thanks po. :)
