"When was the last time you did something for the first time?"

The tag-line of the latest Emirates commercial has struck me. I see two dark-skinned (sorry, run out of politically correct adjectives), middle-aged men run out of a hotel to play in their life's first sight of snow.

Behind me the TV is playing "Dead Poets Society" and I am reminded of days in High School where we stand of tables to see things differently and shout out "Carpe Diem!" is a resounding barbaric YAWP!

Thank God for teachers who opened our minds to be free thinkers, to those who put us out of our misery by making us sputter poetry in front of the class, to those who make find our own walk no matter how silly or out of whack. That kind of training, and a revelation of a loving heavenly Father who will not leave me nor forsake me, has prepared me to face life without fear and embrace everything that it could give.

Now, when was the last time I dared to do something for the first time?
